Over a year after cannabis was legalized in Canada and two months since new regulations changed to allow their sale, the first edibles are hitting the shelves in Canada.

Alongside vape cartridges and extracts, edibles were held back from the first wave of legalization to allow additional time to address lawmakers’ concerns around safety.

While edibles have been legal since October 17th, Health Canada requires producers to submit products for review 60 days before sales can commence.

A little over 60 days later, Canadian patients can finally look forward to finding some tasty medicated treats in their stockings. Sadly for residents of provinces including Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec, delays in the state’s cannabis distribution systems mean that recreational customers hoping to enjoy an edible-infused holiday season this year will be disappointed.

Likewise, recreational consumers will have to contend with some pretty strict regulations. Individual doses are limited to 10mg of THC, while some provinces – like Quebec – have restricted the availability of edible products deemed appealing to kids.

A quick note about dosage
